Welcome |
Who am I? I'm Mark Edward Wilson, a New Zealander, currently living and working in the United States (Sunnyvale, CA). I'm a Senior Software Engineer at Trimble Navigation.
What am I doing here? Well, that's a good question. I'm not sure. I guess I just felt it was time to get on the Internet myself. There's some software I'd like to offer up, but more importantly, there are a few things I'd like to say. I think the key to the Web is Content and I hope that I can add something useful to the corpus (albeit very very small). Of course you're also going to have to put up with some biographical stuff and what I guess amounts to a brain dump. I would like this to be more than a Kilroy site, but if not, who cares? I'll be happy if sometime someone does a search for something esoteric like "designature", "hypergeometric function" or "hapax legomenon" and finds this site. That's what I like most about the Web; the ability to find random information on it, it's like a great big patchy encyclopedia. I'm always disappointed when I don't get any hits from a search and delighted when I do.
In a way, this site is my Doppelgänger. It's quite autobiographical and as you explore it (if you should chose to do so) you'll learn quite a bit about me. Via this site, I can be introducing myself to you while I'm asleep on the other side of the world. Freeky.
SiliconValley...Park? Well Silicon Valley is where I live and work right now (Sunnyvale). But to counteract any possible geekiness there, I chose Park. So, picture me in a nice park in Silicon Valley. I'm probably flying my kite.
This site is still largely under construction -- you'll find a number of places marked with "todo".
